Rules for Deliverance Online IRC

Please remember, all general in-game Deliverance Online rules apply (in relation to chatting).
Written by Nadrielle, Last updated: Friday, September 11th, 2009.

Rules for all Channels

Quote

- Please be respectful to all individuals in the chat.
- No flaming, obscene or derogatory language, or racist comments of any kind.
- If there is drama between two people, take it to a PM with /query Username, press enter, then type your message in the chat bar. Work it out there or just ignore each other. If moderators see that the other person is still provoking it they will get punished, not you.
- Any official moderator may kick or ban at any time. If you feel you have been unfairly banned please send a message to Nadrielle on the forums explaining what happened, who banned you, and why it was unfair.
- You may not, under any circumstances, register a Deliverance Online administrator's (GM) name or impersonate that GM in any fashion. Not all in-game GMs will be on IRC and when you are caught punishment may include your IP banned from IRC and a possible ban from the game.
- No form of channel bots, war bots, trojan zombies, or eggdrops are allowed in any of the channels other than the ones approved for the moderators. There should be a maxmium one moderator run bot in each channel.
- Automated scripts that are excessively used to any point will not be allowed. If a moderator feels the script is unnecessary or bothersome, he/she may ban that person for any amount of time.
- Excessive recruitment, swearing and discrimination will be an auto-ban.
- Any complaints regarding moderators may be brought up with Nadrielle.
- If you are interested in joining the moderating team for Deli IRC contact Nadrielle via forum private messages or IRC private messages.

DeliBot Games Rules

Quote

General
- Do not play UNO, Tic Tac Toe, or Trivia at the same time.
- Do not spam !spin or !pickup more than two times in a row.

Trivia
- Do not play trivia unless two people are actively playing. If you are caught playing by yourself, whatever points you earn will be deducted from your score.
- Please try not to log scores for two separate nicks but as the same person (IE: Bob and Bob|DoingStuff).

More rules to come for this section when I think of them.

Breaking of the Rules

Quote

1. First offence will result in a warning.
2. Second offence will result in a kick with another warning in the kick message.
3. Third offence will result in a timed ban, time depends on the moderators choice in relation to the severeness of the offence.

Everyone in the channel is responsible for reading these rules, abiding by them, and checking for updates to these rules.

Deliverance Online IRC Frequently Asked Questions

This guide is to help any newcomers to IRC. There are a total of four sections to this FAQs page; General IRC, mIRC, Java Chat, and Basic IRC Commands and Information. I hope it helps everyone in the Deliverance Online community log on to the Deliverance channels! Please tell me if I need to add anything or if there are any typos or errors. I'll gladly fix it. Thanks!

General IRC

Quote

What is IRC?

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat and is a method for chatting on the internet with several people at once in the same room or multiple rooms. You can also open up a private chat with another user.

Which program should I download?

There are several different IRC clients. The most popular IRC client for a PC would be mIRC. You can download it and learn a bit more about it at their website. That is the client this FAQs page is mostly based on.

Some other IRC clients are: XChat (Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista & Linux), bitchx (Linux), Colloquy (Mac), LeafChat (Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP).

You can also use this browser based NEW! Java Chat if you're new to IRC and don't want to tackle downloading a client.

Download and Installation

Download the program of your choice and follow the instructions from the client you choose.

How do I login with mIRC?

After passing the screen that has the author on it, the Options window will come up. On the left hand side there is a directory tree marked "Category". To the right of that are all the options for each category.

Go to Connect > Servers

There are several servers that mIRC already has given you but Delta Anime isn't one of them.

Click Add and fill in the following information

Description: DeltaAnime
IRC Server: irc.deltaanime.net
Port(s): 6667
Group: DeltaAnime

No password is needed.
Make sure it's .net! I already misspelled it in the FAQs and confused a bunch of people!

Press OK

Now that you've entered the information and saved it, under IRC Server it should read DeltaAnime. If it does not, press the expand down arrow and search for it.

Press Connect to Server

How do I register my nick with mIRC?

You must register your nick with the server before anyone can give you special access such as a voice, an op, or even access to a hidden channel. You must be logged onto the Delta Anime server to register your nick.

To change your nick to the desired name you choose, type in the chat window /nick YourNickHere

When logged onto the server, if you get a message in the status window that your nick is already registered, change your nick again to something else until it's not one that has been taken.

Once the desired nick is set type /msg nickserv register password e-mail

Note: In the places designated password and e-mail enter an actual password you will remember and your actual e-mail!

If it did not work type /msg nickserv help register

Identifying

Once your nick is registered, every time you login, you must identify with nickserv, or nickserv will think you're stealing someone else's nick and change your nick to an anonymous one with a string of numbers attatched. IE: DaUser18983021

To identify type /identify password

How do I enter the Deliverance Channels with mIRC?

After you've logged in, a list of default IRC channels comes up in a pop-up screen. These are only general suggestions built into mIRC and on the Delta Anime sever very few, if any, are actual channels (rooms). If you want you can delete them all.

This box is called your Favorites. In the box under Enter a channel name and click join: type #Deliverance-Online. Then click Join. You are now in the Deliverance Online main IRC channel.

If you wish to join the other two other Deliverance Online channels you can also join a channel by typing the following lines in your chat window (pressing enter after each):

/join #Deliverance-Support
/join #Deliverance-Market

All channel names are continuous and have no space. You may toggle between each channel by clicking on the button for the channel at the top, under the tool bar.

How do I use Favorites in mIRC?

The Favorites window will allow you to save channels so that you do not have to manually type them out to join them when you reconnect.

When in a channel you want to save click on Favorites > Add to Favorites up on the tool bar.

The channel, description, and network should automatically be entered. If you would like to auto-join these channels the next time you logon to Delta Anime check mark Join on connect.

Auto Tasking with mIRC

Want to make mIRC automatically identify you, open channels, or more?

Click Options
Under Connect > Options > Perform
Checkmark Enable perform on connect
If the DeltaAnime is the only network you use follow Step 1 Those who use different networks follow Step 2:

Step 1: Leave Network: as All Networks
Under Perform commands:
Enter /identify password and any other auto commands
Make sure you put each command on its own line

Step 2: Click Add Network
If you cannot see your network, you have to go to the Connect > Servers and edit your network with a Group name
Then go back to Options > Perform and Add the Network
In the drop down box, select that network
Add specific commands for that network

How do I make my text with colors, bold, or underline in mIRC?

Colors: Hold down Ctrl + K
Follow this with the following format #,#
Where the first # is the text and second after the comma is the background color.
A window pops up with available colors.

Bold Text: Hold down Ctrl + B (the same again cancels it)
Underlined Text: Hold down Ctrl + U(the same again cancels it)

How do I register my nickname?

In the chat box type /msg nickserv register password e-mail

Note: In the places designated password and e-mail enter an actual password you will remember and your actual e-mail!

If it did not work type /msg nickserv help register and look in your status window (the button to the bottom left).

Universal IRC Commands and Information

Quote

Basic IRC Commands

The following are some basic commands to get you started. These commands will work on any client or java chat.

/me
Type this when you want to perform an action. (Example: /me does a dance. will show up as *Nadrielle does a dance.)

/join #channel
Replace #channel with the name of the channel to join it.

/nick YourNick
Where YourNick is the new name you want as a nickname. Changes your nick.

/query UserName
Opens up a private chat with that person.

/part #channel message
Causes you to leave the channel requested and the message is what is said when you part.

IRC's Built-In Shortcuts

/msg nickserv & /msg chanserv can be shortened on almost all servers by typing /ns and /cs.

Example: /ns help commands

/join can also be shortened as /j

Example: /j #channel

Channel Privileges

Wondering what all the ~, &, @, %, and + next to people's names means? The are channel privileges and have the following significance

~ is Founder
& is Super-Op or Hack
@ is Op (Operator)
% is Half-Op
+ is Voiced

The Channel Founder is the only one who can change the permanent settings for that channel.

Ops, depending on if they are SOP(&) or AOP(@) can change the room topic, kick/ban people and give privs that are below their level.

Half-Ops(%) can kick people half-op and lower, and can give a half-op but cannot make it automatic. HOPs(%) can give automatic voice(+) though.

Voice allows the person to talk even when the moderated (+m) command is on.

NO GM WILL EVER ASK FOR YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR PASSWORD OVER IRC. ANYONE DOING SO IS TO BE REPORTED AND MAIMED IMMEDIATELY. CAPS FOR EMPHASIS AND ANNOYANCE.

Anyone impersonating the team on IRC will be permanently banned from the game as well.
